Born on the 16th of May 1961, Dr. Krishna Nayak completed his B.D.S in 1982 and M.D.S. in Orthodontics in 1985 from the College of Dental Surgery, Manipal.
Dr. Nayak served as the Dean of Students Welfare from 1986 to 2000 in the institution. He was appointed the Member of Mangalore University Senate and Academic Councilor for two consecutive terms. Dr. Nayak was also appointed as Member of the Board of Studies in Dental Surgery, Mangalore, Calicut Universities and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. Dr. Nayak currently holds the prestigious position as the Senate member of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
Dr. Nayak was awarded the Best Citizen of India Award in 1999, the Vijayshree Award in 2001, the National Pride of the Millenium Award in 2000, The Rajiv Gandhi Award for Human Excellence in 2002, the Indian Dentist of the Year Award in 2002, the Karnataka State Rajyotsava Award in 2003, the Jewel of India Award in 2005 and the Kuvempu Vishwamaanaprashasthi in 2005.
He became the youngest National President of the Indian Dental Association in the year 2000-2001 and the youngest National President of the Indian Orthodontic Society in the year 1999 – 2000. He also had the exclusive privilege of being the President of the Indian Academy of Dental Educationists.
He also holds the Fellowships of the International College of Dentists, The Federation of Dentistry Internationale, The Pierre Fauchard Academy, The World Federation of Orthodontists and The Indian Board of Orthodontics in recognition of excellence in Clinical Orthodontics.
